Know Air Max Day, Nike's Legacy for Athletics Becoming an Icon of Feysen

Know Air Max Day, Nike’s Legacy for Athletics Becoming an Icon of Feysen – March 26th is an important date for the Nike brand. The date is one of the most awaited dates by snekershead, because it coincides with Air Max Day. The Air Max series is one of the most popular Nike shoes series, and can be called one of the releases from Nike that successfully combines running and fashion.

The Air Max series begins with the thought of a young architect owned by Nike named Tinker Hatfield. In 1987, Tinker Hatfield first released the Nike Air Max series, after being inspired by the Pompidou Center building in Paris. The building design was mentioned as a source of inspiration from the birth of the Air Max series. Because, Pompidou Center is not like most buildings. Through the ‘inside-out’ concept, people who see the Pompidou Center can easily see the installation of the building from the outside.

This was adapted by Tinker by showing the inside of the shoe, so that consumers can see inside the contents of the shoe. Nike Air Max is the first shoe from Nike to openly expose the Air technology in it.

“As an architect, you are not only educated to solve technical problems, but also environmentally and aesthetically,” Tinker said as quoted by StockX.

In its era, the Nike Air Max was one of the most sought after shoes. In fact, at the time of the 1980s, the condition of Nike was lagging behind one of its competitors, namely Reebok. But through the Air Max series, Nike managed to overtake the Reebok position.

Interestingly, at the beginning Air Max was still in the pre-production process, the marketing division team from Nike did not agree with the concept to be launched through the Air Max series. Not only dare to display the inside of the shoe, Air Max first comes with a striking color variant. When it was first released there were two colors released, namely red and blue. Unlike other running shoes, the striking color makes Air Max different from other shoes.

Only in 2014, Nike officially declared March 26 as a tribute to the Air Max series. The Air Max series continues to this day with several variants that continue to revolutionize the development of sneakers. Like the Air Max 90 series, Air Max 93, Air Max 97, Air Max 98, and Nike Air Vapormax.

Usually before the celebration of Air Max Day, Nike will release several special series that mark the celebration of Air Max that year. For 2018 Nike released the Air Max 270 series, OFF-White Vapormax, Air Max 97 with Vapormax sole.

Nike Air Max is one of the iconic heritage of Nike. This one does not only change the order in the sports shoe industry, but it penetrates into the world of fashion.
